The big cosplay sale is here! Costumes orders can be combined with books, enamel pins, stickers, and other merch!
We consider this a damaged costume, due to wear on both the headpiece and wear/discoloration around the feet from being in the water. However it's still great for photoshoots or even con-wear so long as you don't mind the visible seaming on the prosthetic! As an example, the floating water photo was taken and edited post these damages. Ruto's bodysuit is made from 220 GSM matte spandex with a zip down the back and darker airbrushing at the joints. As a note, the neck is not hemmed, in order to give more of a seamless illusion. The padded pieces such as a chestplate and fins are constructed from fosshape to be soft but still supported - these are sandwiched by more spandex, hand-sewn to the bodysuit, and then painted with acrylic paint and an airbrush.
Ruto's shoes are a rubber ballet flat size 7.5 and fit inside the spandex suit. These are not glued in and can be replaced, but I suggest looking for a similar style. Additional padding has been glued onto the shoe to create the long toes. As mentioned, this area of the costume is somewhat damaged: if you look close there is discoloration and pilling on the toes, while the spandex on the heel has split from friction while walking.
The headpiece was a monster to make, and was sculpted from a clay master, cast in flexible Creature Cast, and then backed with Smooth On expanding foam to keep the shape. The seams are pretty rough and visible and frankly always were, even before being worn because I borked up and cut away my nice thin edges. With age, the creature cast at the back of the neck in particular has begun to naturally curve and bend, and all edges of the prosthetic should ideally be glued down when worn either with spirit gum or prosaide. This may or may not bother you depending on your intentions!
Welcome, everyone! We are Cowbutt Crunchies Cosplay, and we're so excited to finally bring you a project we've been working on for the past two years! We're long-time cosplayers who dabble in everything from ballgowns to electronics, but many people know us for our elaborate, larger than life wigwork. Tutorials and cosplay education is a huge part of who we are, and many cosplayers have asked how they too can create these sorts of wigs. We've uploaded many tutorials over the years, but finally we've been able to compile the core techniques that we use into a single book so that ambitious cosplayers can embark on their own extreme projects.
Want even more wig goodness? Check out our social media sites for more tutorials and progress, and especially our charity patreon at https://www.patreon.com/cowbuttcrunchies for additional walkthroughs and 1 on 1 help.
